EL PASO, Texas (AP) — The husband and brother-in-law of a slain Fort Bliss Army captain have been charged with murder after a bloody handprint was found on her arm.

Police said the print, found on Lynn Reister's right forearm, matched the left hand of her brother-in-law, Rodney Reister.

Ms. Reister, 30, was found stabbed to death in the couple's off-post home last week. Her husband, Sgt. Roger Reister, 27, told police he found her body when he returned home from work.

Police said Rodney Reister, 25, made a statement to authorities, implicating himself and his brother. Investigators said the husband hired the brother to kill her, but declined to give a motive.

The husband remained jailed today in lieu of $500,000 bond on a capital murder charge, which carries the death penalty or a life sentence without possibilit of parole for 40 years.

His brother was held in lieu of $125,000 bond on a murder charge, which carries a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Police spokesman Javier Sambrano said he didn't find any records of domestic violence calls for the Reisters' residence.

"We're stunned," said Bridget Reeves, a friend of Ms. Reistner's. "She never outwardly told us there were difficulties" in the marriage.
