Local Roundup: Teams get seeds for state tourneys

Some local teams received information about their postseason destiny recently.

The Flagstaff boys basketball team learned Wednesday it will make a long trip south on Friday to take on 16th-seeded Rio Rico just north of the border for a 7 p.m. 4A Conference play-in round as the No. 17 seed. Meanwhile, the Coconino boys hoops squad, ranked No. 13, stays at home to play host for the round and will takes on the 4A's No. 20 seed, Marcos de Niza at 7 p.m. Friday.

The 4A Coconino girls basketball team, ranked No. 12, will host No. 21 Poston Butte for a 7 p.m. game today. The Flagstaff girls received a play-in bye courtesy of earning a top eight rank.

After the play-in rounds for basketball, the teams are re-seeded.

Meanwhile, the Flagstaff boys and girls soccer teams both received byes for the play-in round and await to see who they will take on Saturday.
