Dominating the field at the Division II, Section II meet Friday at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix, the Flagstaff Eagles cross country teams swept the boys and girls section titles.
Scoring 24 points, the girls easily outpaced second-place Sunrise Mountain with 83 points. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff boys scored 63 points to beat out Deer Valley's 90 points in second.
While Deer Valley's Emily Stutesman won the individual title with a time of 19:16.51, four Flagstaff runners came through the finish line together to take second through fifth place.
Maddy Christopher's 19:17.34 came through in second, followed by third-place Povi Plank in 19:44.01. Chloe Painter finished fourth in 19:58.77 while Katrina Vollmer finished fifth in 19:59.87.
Angel Curley's 10th-place finish in 20:31.06, Taylore Lowry's 21st-place finish in 21:21.85 and Sydney Marston's 32nd-place 22:09.40 wrapped up the girls finishers for the Eagles.
All seven of Flagstaff's boys finished inside the top 27 within a minute of each other, led by Flynn Fuhrmann in sixth and Riley Human in seventh. The pair finished just two seconds apart, with Fuhrmann clocking a 16:41.00 and Human crossing in 16:43.01.
Another group came through the line in a pack, with 15th-place Corey Blubaum in 16:56.78, 17th-place Peyton Sventek in 17:02.56 and 18th-place Nate Milton in 17:09.46. Wren Cooperrider (25th) and Zac Joyce (28th) wrapped up Flagstaff's finishers with a 17:31.09 and a 17:36.82 respectively.
Both teams will advance to the state meet on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Cave Creek Golf Course. Both of Flagstaff's teams are searching for their third straight team state titles.
