A Basis Flagstaff senior was a highlight for city swimmers at the state meet on Saturday in the Valley.
Abigael Conn finished fourth in the girls 500-yard freestyle in 5:28.25 for Basis Flagstaff, helping the girls team finish 14th as a team. She placed 10th in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.18.
The Basis Flagstaff girls relay teams finished 10th in the 400 free in 4:01.83, 12th in the 200 medley and 16th in the 200 free.
And some young Northland Prep Spartans got their feet wet at the state meet level.
Freshman Sam Prusacki had an 11th-place finish in the boys 200-yard individual medley in 2:14.03 and took 12th in the boys 100 breaststroke in 1:07.26. Sophomore Jillian Raab finished her day with two 15th-place finishes on the girls side in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, touching at 5:51.69 in the longer distance to take two seconds off her prelim time. Junior Austin Kwan took 10th in the boys 100 backstroke.
The Spartan boys 400 free relay was 13th. In the final team results, the girls finished 30th and boys 25th.
