The Coconino High School cross country runners completed the 203 mile Ragnar del Sol relay race this past weekend. Running non-stop for 30:15:34, the team's 12 runners each ran three legs of the 36-leg run. Ranging in distance from 2.4 to 13.5 miles, the first leg began in Wickenberg before it wove throughout the Phoenix area. Exchanges occurred in Tonopah, Sun City, Anthem, Cave Creek and Scottsdale before the run wrapped up in Mesa.

Coconino's coed high school team included Nate Anderson, Jo-Lynsie Begay, Canon Bleeker, Tommy Bennett, Katarina Darnell, Hanna Dowers, Sydney Gingrich, Reid Hatch, Austin Horn, Osheena Manygoats, David Tafoya and Tenetke Watson.

Horn, the team's captain, ran a total time of 1:31:56. His run included the longest leg in Ragnar history of 13.5 miles. A senior at Coconino who finished his cross country career this past fall, Horn plans to run a full marathon in May. He nearly achieved the goal during the relay, as he ran a total of 25.74 miles. On the girls side, Watson ran a total of 21.87 miles over her three legs.

As a team, Coconino placed fourth in the high school coed division and 31st overall out of the 308 teams competing in total.
