Northern Arizona track and field had 12 student-athletes receive 2013-14 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments, the association announced Tuesday.
The Lumberjacks had six women and six men represented on their respective teams. In all, the group collected 20 top-three finishes at the Big Sky Championships and brought home five gold medals.
Lauren Stuart, the 2014 Big Sky Outdoor Most Outstanding Female Athlete, led the way for the women. Also receiving academic honors were Julia Viberg, Jessica Weise, Paige Gilchrist, Jade Childs and Brooke Andersen.
On the men’s side, Josh Hardin was one of 17 men who recorded a cumulative GPA of 4.0 out of 496 honorees. In addition to Hardin, Caleb Hoover, Micael Ljunberg, Andy Trouard, Timothy Freriks and Brian Shrader were recognized.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
