Northern Arizona’s Eric Heins has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. The 2014 recipient was chosen in a vote by the league’s coaches earlier this week. The coaches were not allowed to vote for themselves.
Heins was tabbed as the men’s COY after leading the Lumberjacks to its 19th outdoor title, and their third consecutive.
Between cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, NAU has won every title since the 2011 cross country championship, making this title ninth consecutive for the Lumberjack men.

The Lumberjack women captured their eighth outdoor title and first under Heins. The last time NAU won the women’s title was in 2006 when the meet was in Cheney, Wash. The Lumberjack women won with a score of 135 points. Montana took second with 119.50 points.
This is the third outdoor COY for Heins on the men’s side and first for the women. During the 2014 season, Heins won the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field COY awards.
