The Northland Prep Spartans boys basketball team had its season come to a close on Wednesday, falling 65-30 to the hosting Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs.

The Spartans went 10-7 overall in the regular season to earn the 2A Conference's No. 24 spot, the last available to make the play-in round. Before the play-in game, Northland Prep went 1-1 at the Central Region tournament that did not have an effect on seedings, beating the Sedona Red Rock Scorpions 42-35 before losing to the Glendale Prep Griffins 53-37.

The Spartans on Wednesday got off to a rough start, scoring just three points in the first quarter, and faced a 39-13 deficit at halftime against the No. 9-ranked Mustangs.

Last year, the Spartans failed to make the postseason.
