The Continental 12s All-Stars staved off a late-game scare and beat Show Low 10-7 in Winslow on Tuesday, setting up a meeting with West Flagstaff.
Ryker Patten was 3 for 3 with an RBI, a triple and a team-high two runs scored for Continental, which held a 10-3 lead after four innings in part to a five-run bottom half of the third. Continental's Tyler Ragan went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Jordan Snider added as many RBIs to go with a walk and run scored on a 1-for-1 day.
Caleb Clifton walked in a run to spark the third-inning scoring spree for Continental and Snider scored on a passed ball to end it as Continental went ahead 9-3. Show Low, after two scoreless innings, used four straight singles to post four fifth-inning runs, but Wyatt Bellar stopped the bleeding with a strikeout and put an end to the two-out rally.
Connor Culwell pitched 4 1/3 innings and got the win, allowing five hits and five runs, three of which were earned. He struck out seven batters and and walked two.
Continental and West Flagstaff play Wednesday at 6 p.m.
