An old-time major league pitcher once said he worried about only two types of batter — righthanders and lefthanders. It's the same with airports: Only two kinds of airports present hostile environments: origin and destination. As I covered previously, origin airports are often the worst, but destination airports present their challenges, as well. You can't avoid all of them, but you can avoid some of the worst problems.

In 2014’s “The Gabby Douglas Story,” Sydney Mikayla portrayed the child version of the Olympic gymnast. Currently, she has a plum role on the soap opera “General Hospital,” where she plays a young woman reunited with her father. “Trina is a loyal, tell-it-like-it-is, ambitious teen,” said Mikayla, who lives in the Los Angeles area. “She’s a great friend and she’s really motivated about going to college to study art. I think we’re similar in that we love our family and friends, but she definitely likes to get in people’s business a bit more than I do.” The actress stays in touch with her fans on Twitter (@sydneymikayla) and Instagram (@officialsydneymikayla).

Born in Puerto Rico, actress, writer and producer Alondra Delgado is best known for her role as Vanessa – the football coach’s daughter – on the CW series “All American.” She also won for Best Actress at the Austin Micro Short Film Festival for “Bygone,” which she wrote and produced. Based out of Los Angeles, the 23-year-old actress said she looks forward to traveling to Greece soon. “I can’t wait to go there,” she said. “It was in my plans for 2021.” Fans may follow her on Instagram ( and Twitter (

Actress and singer Jadah Marie will turn 16 years old later this spring, but she’s already got a loyal contingent of fans, due to her work with filmmaker and choreographer Kenny Ortega in “Descendants 3” and Netflix’s “Julie and the Phantoms.” The performer said she’s looking forward to being able to travel again when it’s safer. “My family and I planned a trip to Hawaii last summer and had to cancel due to COVID,” said the Los Angeles-based teen. “We were also supposed to fly into Canada to continue shooting (a project), but that also got canceled.” Fans may stay in touch with the actress via Instagram ( and Facebook (

If you travel at all this summer, chances are most of you will be confined to the U.S., and many off those will be hitting big cities. Yes, you can find pricey private sightseeing tours almost anywhere, but some U.S. cities offer public transit trips on spectacular routes that are a lot less expensive, offering flexible schedules, and avoiding extended stops at cheap souvenir shops.

For actor Jacob Hopkins (“The Goldbergs,” “Dragons: Rescue Riders,” “The Loud House”), the pandemic certainly made working more difficult. But, just as importantly, it put his education plans on hold. “I think the biggest thing that changed for me is that I ended up deferring my first year of college, because of the pandemic,” said Hopkins, who turned 19 in March. “Hopefully, we will go back to our normal lives (soon). I want to pursue my college life and expand my horizons as a person and as an actor.” Based out of Los Angeles, Hopkins stays in touch with his fans on Instagram (@hopkinsjake) and Twitter (@hopkinsjacob5).
