We need to avoid another government shutdown and let Congress and the White House get on with important matters to our nation beyond border security -- however important that may be.
Since both the president and Congress are willing to spend more than the $5.7 billion that the president wants for the wall, why not agree on, let us say, $6 billion for border security and have Congress and the president agree on an expert non-partisan (or bipartisan) "Border Security Commission" with authority to expend this money as they see fit.
If they want to spend all, some or none on a wall, it's their call. And then the president and Congress can get on to other things.
(Like a wall on our northern border to keep those snowbirds out of Arizona? LOL)
