There are numerous reasons why I am opposed to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but foremost among them right now is the precarious nature of Trump’s presidency.

The president hasn’t been charged with felonies – yet – but if he were to be (as a number of his close associates have been), the Supreme Court could be decisive in cases coming from Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation. During the hearings, Kavanaugh refused to answer questions regarding his inclinations about presidential powers. Would he allow Trump to pardon himself?

A president whose administration is under investigation should not have the right to select the next Supreme Court justice. Our democracy is in jeopardy!
