The “State must take action to protect against wildfires” editorial by a Coconino County board contributor was strictly a hit piece for the Green New Deal folks and had little to do with preventing future wildfires in Arizona or anywhere else.

The writer cites her experience with the Museum Fire and 9-year-old Schultz Fire that were human-caused, by people, not climate change, methane waste, greenhouse gas, pollution or naturally occurring lightning. The only “human-caused emergency that demands a massive-scale mobilization to halt, reverse and address its consequences and causes,” as stated by the writer, is to close the forest to all campfires, campers with matches, cigarettes and s’mores-making material.
