Dude, get off my wave man!!!! Locals only bro! All Americans pay taxes to fund our national forests. Allowing locals to not pay fees that other taxpayers must pay? Get real.
“ The level of care and maintenance required for the Red Rock landscape exceeds that needed in other National Forest areas. Revenue from the pass program is making a difference providing improved visitor information, environmental protection and lasting memorable experiences!”
Seriously Dirk? All they have done with that money is remove places to park along 89A. Other than that, they haven't done squat. When the Red Rock Pass first came about, I was all for it - that is until I saw what they were doing with the money. Arizona was growing by 1 million people a decade, now it's way above that. Maybe the real solution is for liberal states to stop running their states into the ground so everyone doesn't want to move here.
So let me understand you duder, you’re opposed to locals not paying fees or additional fees altogether? Why should locals pay for damage primarily done from non-locals? And damage is being done more here than it a whole Lotta places. Why do you think the national Park service charges, we all pay for that in our taxes but we pay more when we go visit those areas because otherwise they would end up in shambles. Kawabunga!
Well, according to the forest service, more people from out of town use several of the major entry points such as Elden Lookout Trail, Schultz Pass Trail, etc. More people from out of town use Kelly trails and Cinder Hills for motorized recreation. That said, I don’t really trust information from much of anywhere anymore. So Johnny, I suppose we just have to agree to disagree on this one :-)
Kom, If that would keep more pigs masquerading as humans from damaging and desecrating our public lands, I would be more than happy to. And this letter is specifically regarding public lands, not parks and playgrounds which by and large have better resources to clean up after thoughtless visitors.
I agree that there's a problem. We pick up piles of trash every time we enter the forests. Just yesterday it was broken sleds that careless visitors used and then tossed. On a recent trip to Pumphouse Wash, it was a bag of garbage that campers above threw over the edge and animals had strewn paper plates and plastic cups everywhere. It would be nice if visitors showed a little respect.
For all you brainiacs that voted for Biteme just wait. You think things are overcrowded now. The hordes are now massing at the border just waiting to sneak into the promised land. I’m afraid your complaining is falling upon deaf ears. You reap what you sow or in this case vote for.

From the Coconino National Forest website:

Because Rick, the locals use it far more than the tourists.

What a deplorable creature you are.
Resnick, I expect you to pay a fee at every park, forest, playground etc., outside of Flagstaff city limits.

how about a $2 sled tax for every one of those cheap plastic ones sold in town to cover the cost of cleaning them up once they break?

I thought your infallible orange leader built a wall?
Reap what is sown is right, just look at the great state of affairs the nation is currently in. Much thanks for a reality tv star as president.
Good point.
Oh yeah, better to have voted for maniac boy as he reverses every environmental protection, not that they were enough in the first place.
I suggest signage asking users of the National Forests to take pictures of violators of fire regulations and who leave trash and report them by phone.
We all have seen 800 number for "Operation Game Thief" why not a system for reporting people who could destroy and trash our forest and our economy?
