I'm not necessarily a fan of Councilmember Odegaard nor have I paid enough attention to Flagstaff City Council's activities. However: The tirade against Odegaard's decision to not rezone a parcel of industrial land was "over the top" (in other words, unjustified). The writer of the letter to the editor (published 3/1/19) apparently did not identify himself as an employee of the Chamber of Commerce -- which he is.
My prejudice about the chamber is that they feel any development is good development. My thought is that we have seen a plethora of huge apartment complexes in Flagstaff. If more are needed for the students, build them on the NAU campus. It is good to have land zoned for a variety of uses, industrial use being one of them.
