PHOENIX (AP) — Two Phoenix police officers fatally shot an armed man as he struggled with a third officer after an unsuccessful traffic stop followed by a foot chase, the Police Department said Tuesday.
The shooting occurred early Tuesday morning after officers caught up to the man and saw that he had a gun, leading to a struggle for the gun, a department statement said.
According to the statement, the incident began when officers tried to pull over a suspicions vehicle but it didn't stop. A police helicopter then located the vehicle at a resort and the man then got out of it and took off running, the statement said.
No officers were injured, the statement said, and no identities were released.
