PHOENIX (AP) — Police in Phoenix say a man shot by officers has died.
They identified the man on Thursday as 30-year-old Henry Wayne Rivera and say he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Police say Rivera matched a description of a suspect in a crime spree the night before and was shot when he didn't obey commands during a confrontation Wednesday.
They say the man first ran from a motel and then got into a vehicle at a nearby business.
Police say officers fired plastic rounds and used gas when Rivera stayed in the vehicle after driving it a short distance.
They say officers shot him when he got out of the vehicle but still didn't comply with police commands.
Police say Rivera was taken to a hospital, where he died.
