SUNSET CRATER IN WINTER

Black lava rocks throw a deep contrast against brilliant skies, clouds and snow at Sunset Crater National Monument.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory Tuesday and increased the expected snow totals from what was released earlier in the week.

In all, the storm is expected to bring anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow with the bulk of that falling throughout Tuesday night.

Wednesday afternoon, the snowfall is expected to lighten, although flurries may continue, according to the weather service.

The storm is expected to hit areas above 6,000 feet, the weather service reports.
