To the editor:
At the City Council meeting Nov. 19 I questioned unwise water use on yet another golf course (total of six already), more chain stores (instead of local businesses) and, lastly, low-paying employment accompanying the future new Little America complex.
Let me explain further. In light of nearly 20 years of below-average precipitation, shouldn’t Flagstaff be aware of water conservation and deny another new golf course? Does Little America’s vision of development fit the Flagstaff 2030 Regional Plan? Maybe a clean, high-technical industrial park, training academy or science corp. All would bring in real paying jobs instead of a construction frenzy followed by low-paying service jobs.
Let’s change the famous Flagstaff quote, “Poverty with a view.” We can begin with smart sustainable growth plans.
