An officer-involved shooting occurred late Wednesday night on West Topeka Avenue in the Railroad Springs neighborhood, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The department blocked off West Topeka Avenue below Railroad Springs Boulevard to investigate the crime scene. The trooper sustained non-life threatening injuries, the department reported.
A witness who lives in the neighborhood reported they heard several shots shortly before 9 p.m. Multiple law enforcement vehicles responded to the area, and blocked traffic in the tight neighborhood streets.
The responding vehicles included at least one Flagstaff Fire Department truck and two Guardian Medical Transports. At least one resident had people escorted into the crime scene while the investigation took place.
"The investigation is in the early stages and we will be releasing a statement with more information tomorrow morning," according to the department.
On the FPD Facebook, a message was released saying that "all suspects are accounted for. The area will have a heavy Police presence while the investigation is conducted. We ask that citizens avoid the area if possible."
The Arizona Daily Sun will update this story as information is released.
