After a week featuring upsets, blues music and an electrical malfunction, the 2019 Flagstaff Little League City Majors Tournament is starting to make its way to the home stretch.
For this year's host, Continental Little League, only the Red Diamondbacks, the league's No. 2 seed, remain in a bracket in which three WFLL teams still reside. All three of WFLL's top three seeds are still in contention, with the second-seeded Gray D-backs the lone undefeated team.
The WFLL Gray D-backs await one of three teams trying to work out of losers bracket. No. 1 WFLL Black takes on CLL Red Monday at 6 p.m. on Dawson Field, where the rest of the annual tournament's ballgames will take place. WFLL Brick plays that game's winner on Tuesday to decide who will take on Gray for the title.
Gray must be beaten twice on Wednesday -- which could result in a doubleheader after an electric issue at the Continental Little League Fields on Wednesday caused all third-round games to be canceled that day and subsequently rescheduled.
On Friday, as Gray made its way to the title round and Black and Red avoided elimination, a blues festival in the lot adjacent to the Continental fields blasted music.
This Wednesday is the title round, and first pitch is set for 6 p.m., with the second game set for 8 p.m., if needed.
