The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has formally arrested a Grand Junction, Colo., man in connection with the murders of Michael and Nora Dimuria of Williams on May 2.
Derrick Shawn Barnett, 29, has been held in the Montezuma County Jail since May 5 after local deputies located the Dimurias’ Jeep at a campground. Barnett was arrested after a 30-mile high-speed and held on a variety of charges while Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies traveled to Colorado to investigate the case.
According to the sheriff’s office, Barnett has now been charged with two counts of murder, along with vehicle theft and weapons misconduct. Coconino County authorities will seek extradition of Barnett back to Arizona.
