The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Lake Powell Boulevard, followed by a variety of park activities starting about 10:30 a.m. A professional pyrotechnic fireworks display starts at sunset, launched as usual from Lake Powell National Golf Course.
Traffic controls will be in place with virtually every Page police officer and firefighter on duty Monday night. Page Police Capt. Ray Varner has said officers will be stationed at almost every major intersection in the area directing traffic after the fireworks display concludes. Highway 89 will be closed between North Lake Powell Boulevard and South Lake Powell Boulevard just before the display begins and will reopen after the fireworks are over. Motorists will be directed back to town from the highway via Haul Road.
Varner reminded residents that the use of fireworks is illegal in Page except for "novelty" fireworks. Novelty fireworks include sparklers, snappers, snap caps, party poppers, snakes, glow worms and toy smoke devices.
