Coconino County began efforts to reduce seasonal roadside drainage issues near North Spring Valley Road and Pumpkin Center Road, 10 miles north of East Old Route 66 in Parks.

The work will occur from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Monday through Thursday, but may extend into the weekend. Detours, flaggers and signage will guide traffic through the construction zone.

The $300,000 Spring Valley Road Drainage Improvement Project aims to create a vented low-water crossing, to prevent drainage that makes these roads impassable various times throughout the year, including spring runoff and monsoon season.

The project is funded by the county road maintenance sales tax, Proposition 403, and is currently scheduled for completion June 30.
