Junior Trent Holiday had a brief message for his young Page teammates heading into the Division III state cross country race.

"Let's go beat Prescott, let's bring home our championship."

Holiday finished third overall in 16:13.19 and the Sand Devils extended their state title streak to six consecutive championships at the Cave Greek Golf Course Saturday. Page tallied the low score of 62 points, with the upperclassmen carrying the load.

"My team is young, so I told my freshmen -- they were looking up to the older guys -- 'Don't be scared, you've got this.' And our game plan today was go out and run your race," Holiday said.

Sand Devils senior Skyler Sandoval placed ninth with a time of 16:35.89 and junior teammate Rex Martin crossed the finish line in 13th in 16:51.99. The rest of the Page squad was made up mainly of freshmen -- and one sophomore.

Quentin Davis was the first Page freshman to come through, clocking a 17:03.14 to help his team outlast Prescott, which took second as a team on 140 points. Page sophomore Colton Yazzie finished 28th in 17:23.07.

Freshmen Shayden Begay and Gavyn Begay were 71st and 124th, respectively.

Page now has 17 state titles total on the boys side as it continued its longest active streak of state crowns.

"We worked too hard. Too much studying, too much waking up early every day, every morning, and staying after school," Holiday said he also told his teammates when it came to motivating them to get the title.

The Page girls did not run a squad at the meet this year.

The D-III boys race was the final race of the day.

The Page boys were never out of first place as a team as the race unfolded, holding the No. 1 spot after the first and second miles. Holiday was first at the split point.
