Valerie Grimmett left this world on November 20th, 2018 at 63, in the same way she lived her life, on her terms. Val spent the last year battling cancer. She lived that time spending every moment being grateful for today, adventuring with her family and focusing on living.
Val was a funny, adventurous person who approached life with enthusiasm. “Ms. Grimmett” was a spirited, funny, dedicated teacher in FUSD, who could often be found singing, and dancing between lesson. Val was known for her love of Science, guiding her students, and always speaking up for what she thought was right. She spent most of her career teaching 4th grade at Kinsey Elementary. After 30 years of teaching, Val retired from Kinsey and was an educator for Willow Bend.
Val spent her time camping, hiking, backpacking and traveling because of her love for nature. She passed on this love to her children. She was a spectacular mom and sister, who was both a friend and mentor.
Val is survived by her sister Vicki, brother Russel, and her four kids; Jesse, Brandon, Danielle and Kara. Val follows her Mother Lenore Broyles, who passed-on in June of last year. There will be no services. Val's family will be celebrating Val just as she wanted, together in nature. Val will be remembered for her amazing smile, her laughter and strength.
