A beautiful spring morning in Phoenix, with the windows open you could feel the breeze and listen to the birds chirp. He laid in his bed getting a drink of water with the assistance of his adoring wife, Nora Jean. He passed around 8:30 am peacefully.

Born in Chicota, Texas but he grew up in Superior, Arizona and lived in Phoenix for a short time before heading to Flagstaff to attend the Arizona State College (now NAU) to become a Teacher. In Flagstaff he taught, mentored, coached, taught drivers ed, and friended everyone. He took his Basketball team to the playoffs multiple times, but won it in 1973.

Stan has four children Don (Bonnie Harkey); Bill (Diane Jelinek-Townsend); Mike (Jenni Williamson-Townsend); and Di An (Karl Obergh), whom all attended Flagstaff High School. He is survived by his wife; children; ten Grandchildren; and five Great Grandchildren. He was a dedicated Flagstaff Elks Club member, Artist, Wood Carver, Gardener, Friend, Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, and Father-in-Law.

He never judged anyone, except some of the College Basketball Refs!!! His good-bye was never that, he would say “take it easy”.
