Roger Dan Smith

Roger Dan Smith passed away peacefully at home on Friday March 6, 2015 in Flagstaff, AZ at the age of 57. Roger was born August 7, 1957 to Jimmy and Janie Smith in Alpine, TX. Roger grew up in Colton, CA and graduated from Colton High School in 1974. He attended community college in San Bernardino, CA and later moved to Flagstaff, AZ where he would settle down and raise his family. Roger spent many years working in the construction industry in California and Arizona. Roger loved his family and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping with his friends and family. Roger had a big heart and impacted a tremendous amount of people in his lifetime. He will be remembered by many for his loving and accepting nature. Roger is survived by his wife Mary Ann and his four children: Nicole Smith, Ryan (Heather) Smith, Ariana (Nikolaus) Montgomery, and Ethan (Kristen) Smith. He was also the proud grandpa (or “Papa” as Nykaela called him) of four grandchildren: Nykaela, Leo, Vincent, and Kayleigh. He is also survived by his siblings: Beverly Hurley, Valerie Kay Hart, and Randy Smith and several nieces and nephews that always thought highly of their Uncle Roger: Caitlin Filleman, Isom Jackson, Jennifer Becerra, John, Sabrina, Jacob and Josh Avila, Chad, Candice, and Shawn Thomas, and Devin Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Janie Smith. Service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 14th at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66.
