Michael K. O’Connor was born June 1, 1969 in Pomona, California to Michael R. O’Connor and Cheryle K. Hoover. Mike passed away peacefully November 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
After moving to Flagstaff in 1981 Mike spent lots of time with his father working on and rebuilding cars. One of his favorite cars was his 1972 Camaro RT, he then decided he needed 4 wheel drive so he bought his 71 Ford Bronco which was his baby before he decided to part with it , selling it to his brother Patrick.
Mike graduated from Flagstaff high school in 1987. He then married his high school sweetheart and they had three beautiful children. Mike had a few different jobs before he began his career with the City of Flagstaff as a Temp Loader/ Snowplow Operator. He then landed a fulltime position in the streets department as an Equipment Operator. Mike worked his way up over the 27 years that he was employed by the City of Flagstaff and finished his career being Public Works Supervisor Section Head overseeing the maintenance of streets and city parks. Many knew Mike for his baby blue eyes and sense of humor. Mike enjoyed being at the lake, beach, and in the woods surrounded by his friends and family. When he was around there was never a dull moment as he always made everyone laugh or smile at something. Mike will be greatly missed with memories that will be cherished forever. Mike now rests in the arms of eternity, at peace, at last.
