Margaret “Margie” Jean Carl, longtime Flagstaff resident, died on June 26, 2018 in Camp Verde, Arizona.
Margie is survived by her husband Floyd “Billy” Carl, and her three children, Annie (Manuel) Lopez, Mike (Sherry) Wash, and Verna (Jered) O'kief Goff. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was born on September 24, 1933 in Bryan, Texas. She spent most of her life in Arizona, living in Flagstaff for many years during the 1960’s and 1970’s. She spent most of that time working in the banking industry. She would move back to Flagstaff in the 1990’s, and worked most of that time for Coconino Pest Control.
Margie was outgoing, and didn’t know a stranger. She had a way of lighting up a room when she walked in, especially with her infectious laugh. She loved life, and wanted to experience as much of it as possible. She was always willing to try new things.
She spent her childhood on farms, and the love of gardening never left her. No matter where she lived, you knew there would be a garden. She also loved working around the house and remodeling. It seems she spent her life remodeling the homes she lived in, and helping others remodel theirs. The “line” between what is a “man’s job” and what is a “woman’s job” was blurred with Margie. She had no problem painting and pouring concrete during the day, and then baking and sewing at night. She was strong-willed and loved being active, and was, right to the end of her life.
She was big on family, and her children and grandchildren knew that no matter what might be happening in their life, Margie would be “in their corner”, and was there for them.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday July 14th at 10:00am at Camp Verde Community Chruch 480 1st Street Camp Verde, Arizona 86322. If you would like to donate flowers please send to Camp Verde Community Chruch, or donate to cancer Research in Margaret Carls name.
