In Memory of Lillian Lee Wong 1935-2018
Lillian L. Wong passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018. She was 82 years young. She was born in Nam Wau Le, near Canton, China on March 2, 1935.
At the age of 19, she met her future husband, Timothy Him Wong, in Hong Kong, and married him after he was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1955. She immigrated to the United States in 1956. They lived in Oakland, California, before they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1961, and later opened a successful family business, The Afton House Restaurant in 1965. In addition to working as a cook, hostess, and co-manager, she stayed busy raising her children and grandchildren. She loved to garden, growing beautiful flowers and Chinese vegetables to share with her friends and family, and she loved to socialize with her many friends. Tim and Lillian retired in 1993 to begin their golden years.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, going to Tai Chi, shopping, visiting with friends, tracking the stock market, baking, cooking, crocheting, doing puzzles, spending time with her kids, and spoiling her grandkids.
Her legacy includes her children, Phillip, Peter, Jennifer, Larry, and Bev, and her 13 grandchildren.
Her sense of humor, caring attitude, and generous nature will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 10:00am at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, Arizona, 85009, (602)-272-5639.
