Laurence J Toolin

Laurence J Toolin born January 7th, 1938  died January 11th, 2018.

After living to the respectful age of 80, LJT passed on January 11, 2018. Son of Viola and Robert, originally from Hinsdale, Illinois, Larry attended Saint Luke's Academy in Connecticut,  followed by William and Mary College.

Eventually, Larry's path took him to the University of Arizona where received his Bachelor's degree and worked for many years. He was a prolific researcher and writer, and was published in many scientific journals. His work ranged from Paleo and Ethnobotany to fossil packrat middens to his scientific contributions in Radiocarbon dating.

His work with the U of A Accelerator Facility included the Shroud of Turin Research Project.  Maybe you saw him on the History Channel?

Larry traveled extensively from Japan to assist with operations of an Accelerator Facility to Cape Cod, Ma. working with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.  His travels also included Ireland, China, Australia and New Zealand.

Lovingly referred to as a curmudgeon, Larry preferred his solitude, enjoying such hobbies as photography, hiking and bird watching

He is survived by his daughters Neile C Toolin and Lauren J Toolin and grandchildren Simon and Tansy Remiszewski all of whom reside in the Northeast.

Donations in his name can be made to the Arizona-Sonara Desert Museum.
