Eileen Stefan Fowler
Eileen was born December 16, 1931 in Fort San, Saskatchewan. After her mother's death she and her younger brother were adopted by Stewart and Pearl Doan in 1934. In 1951 Eileen graduated as a Nurse's Aide, an accomplishment she proudly referred to all her life. Spring of 1953 she married Conn Stefan and they made their home in Limerick. Life was busy with 5 children, but Eileen not only juggled but chauffeured, band, dance, sports, and piano, to make time to be involved in the community. She enjoyed being involved with the Rebekah Lodge, the United Church, curling and a lifelong attachment to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Her most frequently used expression during this phase of life was "This is NOT a gymnasium!”
Eileen developed severe asthma and in 1975 she, Conn and the younger children immigrated to Phoenix, Arizona. This move significantly improved Eileen's health which allowed her and Conn to enjoy their many Canadian visitors, the Newcomer's Club, and a new passion for golf. Each summer she would load her car with goodies and drive back to the farm in Limerick.
In 1992 Conn passed away and Eileen began to live year round in Arizona. She married Mike Fowler in 1998 and they made their winter home in Sun City West, Arizona, and their summer home in Flagstaff. Eileen was soon christened "Splash" for her Happy Hour scotches. They enjoyed travel, hobbies, family visits and Eileen became a Big Sister. Golfing, neighbors and friends at Runners provided an active social life. Mike passed away in 2010 and a few years later Eileen downsized to an independent living condo in the same Sun City West community.
Eileen passed away April 7, 2018. A life well lived. She leaves behind her children Rodger (Marjorie, deceased) Stefan, Wilf (Diana) Stefan, Doug Stefan, Janice (Ralph) Fagert and Kristy (Matt) Rees, ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Of special mention are dear friends-who-are-like-family, Judy and Allan Joslyn and Little Sister Palmira Moreno.
Memorial services will be 3:30 pm on Thursday April 12, 2018 at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel in Sun City West, Arizona immediately followed by Happy Hour. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
