Alex P. Tkatchov passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona on the morning of January 3rd at the age of 80.
Alex was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Luba Tkatchov and brother Eugene Tkatchov.
He is survived by his sisters Maria Watson and Nina Skawinski, daughter Tya Tkatchov of Nashville, son Oran Tkatchov and wife Mary of Scottsdale, daughter Kristen Pugliano and husband Tony of Cornville, and grandchildren Vincent, Madeline, Luciana, and Alexander.
Alex was born in Russia in 1938. His life’s journey as a youth took him through the farmlands of Germany, the education system in France, and finally to the United States in 1956. Alex proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces and used the GI Bill to attend college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, where he obtained a degree in accounting.
In 1977, Alex came with his wife and kids to Flagstaff, where he was a practicing accountant and active community member until the time of his death.
He enjoyed skiing, boating, playing accordion with his band Big Willie and the Polkamiesters, traveling, dancing, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shepherd of the Hills Church located at 1601 N San Francisco St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
The Tkatchov family would like to thank everyone who over the last 40 years made Flagstaff a place for Alex to proudly call home.
