A runner hailing from Northern Arizona University competed in the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, on Tuesday.
Tyler Day, 22, a staple of success on the Lumberjacks men's cross country and track and field teams, finished in 10th place out of 12 total runners in the men's 5,000-meter race. He clocked a 14:01.13 in his first-ever appearance at the Pan Am Games.
Former Northern Arizona women's hammer throw standout Brooke Andersen will compete in the event on Saturday.
Josef Tessema was the only other runner in the 5000m representing the United States. He was eighth in 14:00.19. The men's 5000m was won by Mexico's Fernando Daniel Martinez Estrada in 13:53.87 at the Estadio Nacional del Peru.
