Recent Northern Arizona women's tennis graduate Hanneke Lodewijks was announced Thursday to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Women's At-Large First Team, selected by CoSIDA. The honorees were voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
With her selection to the All-District First Team, Lodewijks will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with honorees set to be announced in June. She is vying to be just the third Academic All-American in Northern Arizona women's tennis history and first since 2007.
Lodewijks is the fourth-ever Lumberjack to earn the honors, following Yvonne de Waal (2002), Susan McClelland (2006, 2007) and Johanna Vang (2015).
The academic recognition is just the latest for Lodewijks this year, following her selection as Northern Arizona's Golden Eagle Top Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The Breda, Netherlands, native graduated last week with a 4.0 grade point average in exercise science.
Lodewijks was the lone student-athlete on the 11-person District 8 First Team not from the Pac-12 Conference alongside honorees from Stanford, Utah, Arizona State, Oregon and Washington State. She was one of two tennis players on the District 8 First Team and the only female Big Sky student-athlete honored on Thursday.
Lodewijks posted a 6-3 singles record and 14-4 doubles record in her final season with the Lumberjacks, concluding with a Big Sky Championship and a nationally ranked doubles win in the NCAA Tournament versus her opponent from UCLA. She finished her career as NAU's career leader with 60 doubles victories.
