The Coconino County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of a Buckeye resident who was found deceased at the bottom of Horseshoe Bend on Sunday.

According to CCSO, deputies out of the Page substation responded to Horseshoe Bend around 2:13 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call from Page Police. Page Police reported that the vehicle of person missing out of Buckeye had been found by the resident's family at Horseshoe Bend parking lot.

Deputies and National Park Service Rangers conducted a search from the rim and located the body. The body was transported from the base of Horseshoe Bend to the rim and taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Flagstaff.

The case is still under investigation pending a positive identification of the body by the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office.
