The 4A Conference Coconino Panthers volleyball team moved to 1-1 to start the season after a loss Tuesday in four sets to 4A Seton Catholic.

In the Tuesday loss, Maggy Popham had a team-high seven digs for the Panthers, who suffered the defeat, 25-21, 12-25, 25-13, 25-16. Kayla Jacobson added six digs for Coconino, which had four other players collect four digs each in Elyce Palmer, Brooke Parker, Mireya Cabrera and Morgan Derr.

Seton Catholic improved to 3-0 on the victory and served 12 ace against Coconino, which ended with Parker having three of her team's seven total aces Tuesday on the road.

The Panthers opened the season with a win in four sets over the 4A Buckeye Union Hawks, 25-19, 25-16, 24-26, 25-15. Rikenna Curtis led the Panthers in that win with 10 kills, with Megan Hicks contributing eight and Parker notching seven.

The Panthers play their first home match of the season today against the Lee Williams Volunteers at 6 p.m. It is also Coconino's first Grand Canyon Region contest of the season.
