Big fancy weddings are no guarantee of a long and happy marriage. My husband and I got married on the South Rim of Grand Canyon at Lipon Point almost 42 years ago! We had 5 family members, 3 friends, and 5 Grand Canyon Trail Guides employees. No bridal gown or tuxedo and no flowers, but what a view!!! We did have a lunch for the small group at the El Tovar, and we did have a wedding cake. I think the whole thing cost $250 (we paid for everyone's lunch). 42 years later, we could not love each other more. I'm not saying large formal weddings are not fun or that people should not have them. I'm just saying that they don't guarantee a long and happy marriage. So, if you don't have a lot of money (we certainly did not) then small, informal ceremonies work great too :)
