Sgt. Cory Runge teaches a Mental Health First Aid class at Flagstaff Police Department in November. The FPD's goal is to have 100 percent of its employees certified in Mental Health First Aid.

Northern Arizona Healthcare will be hosting a free Mental Health First Aid course for Flagstaff community members Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The course teaches skills needed to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use issues and will contribute to the region’s Stronger As One initiative to train 50,000 people in Mental Health First Aid by 2023.

This training will be held in the Redwood Room of Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Education Building, 1000 N. Humphreys St.

For more information about attending this course, contact Courtney McCarron at 928-607-7225 or Courtney.McCarron@NAHealth.com. To learn more about Mental Health First Aid, visit www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org.
