The Flagstaff Police Department responded to a suspected arson at the Walmart on East Huntington Drive early Saturday morning according to a media release.

After the report of a fire came in at approximately 3:03 a.m., officers arrived and assisted with an evacuation as heavy smoke filled the inside of the store and the sprinkler system was active.

Store employees told officers on the scene that a Native American man standing 5 feet, seven inches was seen leaving sections of the store where the fire started. The man was wearing a black hat, grey jacket, orange shirt and green camouflage pants.

Given the severe fire and water damage sustained, the Walmart will be closed until further notice. FPD's investigation into the arson is active and ongoing, and asks anyone with information that may help identify the suspect in the investigation to contact either the department or silent witness. A cash reward for information leading to an arrest my be available.
