Northern Arizona University student Kaitlin Thompson has been appointed as a student member of the Arizona Board of Regents.
Thompson's gubernatorial appointment was confirmed Monday by the Senate's education committee, and it will go to the full Legislature for decision in the coming weeks. If she is confirmed again, her two-year term begins July 1.
Thompson is an undergraduate in political science who will earn her bachelor's degree in May. She will remain at NAU to begin her graduate studies in public administration next semester.
Thompson's university and community service has included a public policy internship for the governor's office and volunteering at the Northern Arizona Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity and the Arboretum at Flagstaff. She is also a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society, the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Division and is an elections commission member for the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University.
