Assaulting an officer
A man attempted to run down a Flagstaff police officer in a car on Tuesday morning while officers responded to a domestic violence call.
According to a police log entry, as an officer reached the apartment complex on E. Ponderosa Parkway, he noticed a man in a hurry to get in his car and start driving away. When the officer stepped in front of the vehicle and instructed him to stop, the man accelerated at him and attempted to run him over. The officer pointed his gun at the man, but jumped out of the way instead of shooting.
When Flagstaff police went inside the residence, they found that the man had been in a fight with his girlfriend. There was evidence that the woman had been assaulted, but she said she did not want to press charges.
Police were still attempting late Tuesday to locate the man on charges of aggravated assault of a police officer.
