Pepper spray assault

Flagstaff police arrested an 18-year-old woman this week after she admitted to using pepper spray on her ex-boyfriend.

According to the police report, the assault happened at about 5:40 p.m. Monday in a parking lot in the 1300 block of West University Avenue. The suspect and victim had broken up several weeks earlier.

They decided to meet in the parking lot after the victim contacted the suspect saying he wanted to confess something that had happened while they were together.

The victim said his confession sparked a heated argument. While they were both calling each other names, the suspect doused the victim with her pepper spray, burning his neck and back as he turned to run away. She then sprayed it into his car as he got in the vehicle. The victim’s eyes and skin were red and he reported having difficulty breathing but declined medical attention.

Bailey Underwood, 18, was arrested by Flagstaff Police Department and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. She was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.
