2019 Coconino County Teacher of the  Year (copy)

Beverly Stearns gives a short speech after being named the 2019 Coconino County Teacher of the Year on Wednesday at a ceremony at the High Country Conference Center. Stearns is the music teacher at Williams High School.

Nominations for the Coconino 2020 Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year are open now through Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. Forms are available at www.coconino.az.gov/celebrate.

The awards recognize outstanding full-time teachers in Coconino County. Nominees must submit an essay application along with letters of support. A panel of five judges score applications using a rubric, discussion and interviews to determine three finalists in each category. Teachers must be nominated to be considered.

Beverly Stearns, music teacher at Williams High School, was the 2019 Teacher of the Year, while Jordan Morales, a second grade teacher at Kinsey Inquiry and Discovery School, was the Rookie Teacher of the Year.

Finalists are presented awards and cash prizes in a ceremony usually held in April.
