To the editor:
On behalf of the Flagstaff Family Food Center, Food Bank and Kitchen I would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the Northern Arizona Volunteer Medical Corp. For the fourth year in a row they have organized the Zombie Hand Drop and Blood Drive and generously matched proceeds from Zombie Hand Sales with a $10,000 donation. This year they collected over 90 pints of blood for United Blood Services and raised over $22,000 for the Flagstaff Family Food Center! We are profoundly grateful for the entire NAVMC board, Dr. Durham and especially to the amazing Cathy Flores who was the lead in orchestrating both the Zombie Blood Drive and Hand Drop. She worked tirelessly to collect raffle prizes for donors, food donations and sell a record amount of Zombie Hands. She is a champion for our community and our organization is so lucky to benefit from her hard work and compassion! With these greatly needed funds we are able to continue our work of providing food for children, families and individuals in desperate need of hunger relief. This support goes a long way in helping us to provide over 245,000 meals annually to children and adults in Flagstaff. Thank you to NAVMC for their incredible work not only in Haiti and Bolivia but right here at home in our Flagstaff community.
