Timothy Duran, 38, of Doney Park, has been arrested as a suspect for allegedly stabbing his wife Crystal Morgan, 35, multiple times and leaving her for dead, Coconino County Sheriff's Office reports.
As sheriff's deputies made their way to the scene around 7 a.m. Thursday, a reporting party advised law enforcement that Duran fled the area. Deputies located Morgan with multiple stab wounds and requested medics, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court records show Morgan petitioned for divorce on Monday, three days prior to the incident.

Later that morning, investigators were informed that the suspect was in a vehicle heading toward Phoenix. Sheriff's officials report that the agency put a call out notifying other northern Arizona law enforcement agencies of Duran's location.
The suspect was soon located on the I-17 near the McGuireville exit. Sheriff's officials, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety initiated a traffic stop and found Duran.
Duran was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on charges of first-degree homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Coconino County Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine Morgan's official cause of death.
Duran was found guilty in 2003 of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and third-degree burglary in two separate cases. Five other charges were dropped in those cases, including theft and assault on a minor as an adult.
The investigation in this case is ongoing, the sheriff's officials reported.
