Trail closures

Sunset Trail, in the Dry Lake Hills area, ascends from Schultz Pass through ponderosa pine and fir and into a bowl between the Dry Lake Hills and Little Elden.

The Flagstaff Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest is asking for proposals from the beginning of October to Dec. 6 for outfitter and guide companies interested in providing commercial services in the area.

Opportunities to provide commercial services include mountain biking, day hiking, trail running, rock climbing in the Mount Elden and Dry Lakes Area, according to a media release.

Applicants can propose additional uses on existing special-use permits and a limited number of new permits will be considered. A Forest Service panel will select applicants through a competitive process based on written applications.
