The City of Flagstaff Fire Department will be conducting two free firewood giveaways to the public Friday and Saturday. The giveaways will start at 8 a.m. both days and end when the firewood is gone.

On Friday, Oct. 19, people collecting firewood should meet near the dog park at Thorpe Park, where traffic will be guided to the eastern edge of Observatory Mesa to access the collection area. No trailers are allowed and high clearance 4x4 vehicles are required for this site.

On Saturday, Oct. 20th, people collecting firewood should meet at the intersection of Hidden Hollow Road and Highway 180, where traffic will be guided to the northern section of Observatory Mesa to access the firewood collection area. 4x4 high clearance vehicles are required.

All firewood is ponderosa pine and is cut-to-length. No chainsaw use will be permitted. The FFD asks that collectors wear work gloves and sturdy closed-toed footwear. For more information call the Fire Administration at (928) 213-2500.
