The Flagstaff Fire Department is conducting a 100-acre controlled burn Wednesday on Observatory Mesa Natural Area.
This is an initial broadcast burn in an area where mechanical forest treatment was conducted a few years ago and an on-going aspect of the Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project.

Ignitions began at 10 a.m. Smoke will be visible throughout the day from much of Flagstaff and will likely linger in low-lying areas throughout the night and into early the next day.
